The Chemical Research Center (CRC) was established by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences with a view to offering better conditions for chemical research with successful scientific results and of higher efficiency in economic terms. The CRC started with its activity in 1998.

The paper of Gábor Várhegyi , Balázs Bobály, Emma Jakab, and Honggang Chen entitled Thermogravimetric Study of Biomass Pyrolysis Kinetics. A Distributed Activation Energy Model with Prediction Tests has been the most read artictle in the journal of Energy & Fuels. (Q1 2011)
